A wireless camera security system can be a huge help around the house. It can also provide security when you are not at home. In addition to home applications small businesses and large may benefit from having a wireless camera security system. From added security to lower insurance rates there may be more pluses than you realize.

When you are choosing a wireless camera security system you will want to know two things very clearly. These two things are first what you want your wireless camera security system to do and second what is available on the market.

It can also be helpful to include in your idea of what you want your system to do in the future. By taking expansion and modification into account you will likely design a system that is more easily adapted.

5.8GHz 8-CH 470-Res Color 4-9mm Varifocal CCD Camera & Rx Kit – 1000′

This camera kit is an example of one of the highest GHz wireless systems available. Aside from that though this system includes the most basic components you will find. You will find that the only components included are a wireless camera and a receiver. This is a good start, but for what is generally considered a complete security system you will need the addition of a monitor or recorder and usually at least one more camera.

2.4GHz Receiver & 4 CMOS Wireless Cameras Security System ESRC310A and 812CWAS

This system provides a more complete list of components that the one above, but you will still need a monitor or a recorder. This system uses the more standard 2.4 GHz transmission frequency and includes four cameras. In addition to infrared LED’s integrated into the cameras for better night vision, this system boasts microphones built into the cameras.

2.4GHz 4 Channel Receiver & 4 Color CMOS Wireless Cameras Security System KS636+C-100A

This system represents the most basic level of functionality without the addition of extra components. Like the previous system you get four 2.4 GHz cameras. The difference is in place of a basic receiver the system includes an LCD monitor. The receiver also supports various memory card formats as well. These cameras also support audio transmission. The price will be quite appealing considering the equipment that you receive. All of this was priced for less than two-hundred dollars at the time this was written.

2.4GHz Receiver & 4 CMOS Wireless Cameras Security System WRC840+C-501-4P

If you want a larger viewing monitor and are not that interested in the direct memory chip capability, this may be a good choice for you. You will receive four cameras that are comparable to the standard with the addition of a microphone which is not included in all cameras. You also receive a seven inch receiver. This makes direct monitoring more convenient. There is also the option of A/V cable output allowing you to connect the system to a recorder that you purchase separately.

Nannycam System – Wireless B&W Clock Radio Spy Camera with a 960 Hour Recorder

This last system caters to a specific security-minded customer. They are concerned with the safety and security of individuals who are entrusted to others. If the specific design does not fit your need consider at least the recording components, as they are included in some standard security systems.

This particular system has a camera that is integrated into a clock radio. This allows monitoring without the intrusive and noticeable camera shape that is common in standard security systems. This particular system also includes a standard receiver.

The camera captures in black and white so all output is in the same format. However the system includes a nine-hundred and sixty hour time lapse recorder that can be connected directly to the receiver. A recorder is a nearly essential element in all security systems for documentation purposes.

A wireless outdoor security camera is a fundamental component of any outdoor security system. The range of features that you can find may make choosing the best option a bit daunting. Do not fear this task; understand the project you are completing. When you adequately understand the application you are nearly ready to begin your selection. Consider what you want to monitor and the environment that the camera will be in.

Some of the many features you will have to choose from include whether the camera is motorized, whether the camera is color, whether it requires night vision capabilities. Those things considered many of the other features that you will find are easily comparable or a very close to the same among most of the cameras on the market.

Continue to learn more about the options as you continue to search though. You may find a feature that you did not realize existed and may prove beneficial in your particular application. Consider these sampled products and note the different types of features that they have.

Outdoor Wireless Bullet Camera

This camera offers 2.4 GHz transmission rate and a distance of 700 feet. This particular purchase includes a four channel receiver which is necessary to convert the signal to an RCA signal. The device automatically switches to black and white in low light for increased visibility. This sleek camera unit with receiver was priced at around four-hundred dollars.

Security MAN SM-8123T INDOOR/OUTDOOR Security Camera

The camera uses NTSC resolution. It has a night vision capability that is rated at forty-five feet. It utilizes a ring of LED’s to maximize its effective night vision. The device is a standard design with a cover that shelters the protected lens. This unit is typical of the component camera that many individuals building their own system may want. It was available for less than one-hundred dollars at the time this was written.

270X Outdoor PTZ Camera High Speed Color

This product represents the high-end of outdoor wireless cameras on the market. It is a do anything and see anything unit. Everything from the design to components included is different. In general units such as this are more practical for commercial applications, but each project merits individual assessment.

The camera is a hanging globe design. This allows for the 360-degree rotation that the camera offers. It can also tilt and zoom for more precise remote viewing. The camera operates with a very low lux rating making night-time images clear and visible. The camera has a complete enclosure and a built-in fan and heater in the enclosure. This makes operation in nearly any condition practical.

This particular unit recommended a PTZ joystick for controlling the motorization. It can however be set to automatic rotation. Keyboards and software to optimize the automatic monitoring are not uncommon for units of this quality and ability either. This particular model was approximately $1,100.

Lorex – Ultra Digital Wireless Weather-Proof Color Surveillance System with Indoor/Outdoor Camera

This camera represents a step above the base model. While most of its features are very similar to the other basic models listed here it does include a microphone in the camera. As a result the camera costs around $200. It also includes a receiver, which is a necessary component for functionality.

There are a number of different options in each outdoor wireless security camera. If you have a clear idea of what you want it can be much easier to choose which camera is the best one for the project that you have in mind.

Among the most significant differences is whether the outdoor wireless security camera is motorized. In some locations all you will likely want is a stationary camera to monitor a specific angle. In other cases though you may find that using a single motorized camera or a series of motorized cameras works for more effective monitoring with fewer cameras.

Another factor that some may want to consider is the speed of the outdoor wireless security camera. There are two speed measures that will affect the performance of a wireless video camera. The first is the wireless data transfer. The second is any delayed refresh that may be mechanically inherent in the device.

These aside the basics of video, such as color or black and white, will guide your choice. Now you are ready to begin looking at cameras. Remember that while you search you should continue to learn about the products that you are considering.

Swann Night Hawk 2.4 GHz Wireless Outdoor Security System

This security system includes a camera, receiver and remote control. While the receiver is a necessary component of any wireless camera this one allows the installer to connect it to a DVR, TV, or computer to view or record video.

This camera uses infrared LED lights positioned in a ring around the camera lens to light dark. This allows for greater vision without flooding the area with visible light. As a result the camera is practical for day and night monitoring, as well as monitoring locations that closed to natural light.

As the product’s title states this system operates at 2.4 gigahertz which is far from slow. As you will read later, there are faster systems available. This system can transmit the video up to 100 meters (328 feet) which makes it suitable for many home installations.

Outdoor Video Security Master System

This outdoor video security system is made by one of the trusted names of computer technology which will likely make it a suitable choice in the eyes of many. Logitech sells this system and it offers some high-tech features that make it more than just a camera and clearly on the Logitech level.

You get the computer compatibility that you would expect from such a manufacturer. From Logitech though there are some additional perks. With this system you have the option of viewing the video, recording the video or both. However Logitech offers you the nearly completely pre-configured option of viewing your video through the internet. You can also receive alerts remotely as well. It is far from standard, but the hardware and the software are Logitech quality.

Outdoor 5.8GHz Wireless CCD Color IR Camera, 1/3 inch SONY CCD, 12mm Lens, 420 Lens, 100ft IR, SV580012L

This camera is quite similar to the Swann that was mentioned above, however this Sony camera is a 5.8 gigahertz model. You may note in the title that this one also utilizes infrared light to increase visibility in the dark.

Not every project requires 5.8 GHz though, so you may want to consider the difference in the prices of two comparable camera systems with only a gap in network speed. The difference between these two was nearly half-price for the 2.4GHz one.
